Jon Paul is an Associate in the Construction/Surety and Litigation sections of Coats Rose. Jon Paul is often asked to serve as a trusted legal advisor to his clients. This 360 degree approach allows Jon Paul to assist clients with solving problems, managing risks, and handling litigation during all phases of their business.
Jon Paul earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston Texas, and excelled in courses involving trial practice. While attending law school, he served as a member of the International Trade Law Journal and was awarded the Dean’s Merit Scholarship for his academic success.
Jon Paul has served on the South Texas College of Law Alumni Board of Directors since 2008 and currently serves as Vice President of the Admissions Committee. Jon Paul also serves as Treasurer for the Houston Bar Association Construction Law Section. He was also named a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2012 and 2013.
Due to Texas’ robust economy, Jon Paul’s practice has focused on serving clients in the Construction and Energy/Oil & Gas industries. Jon Paul is often asked to represent general contractors, sub-contractors, oil field service companies, product and equipment manufacturers, as well as property owners and developers in a wide range of transactional and litigation matters. He has represented oil field service companies, product and equipment manufacturers, general contractors, sub-contractors, as well as property owners and developers.
His litigation practice includes the defense and prosecution of lien, bond and delay claims, OSHA conferences and appeals, oil field/energy litigation, mineral rights/royalty disputes, wrongful death and catastrophic personal injuries, product liability, construction litigation, employment disputes, insurance, general and complex commercial disputes, and premises liability.
In addition to his litigation practice, Jon Paul is often asked to counsel clients, both large and small, on general business issues including contracts, leases, construction related agreements, master service agreements, franchise agreements, OSHA compliance and recordkeeping, and employment issues.
