Kerry Hand is Of Counsel in the New Orleans office of Coats Rose. His practice focuses in the areas of real estate; income tax and strategic planning at the federal, state and international levels; trust and estate planning; corporate law; and wealth preservation. Kerry is a Board Certified Tax Specialist, as certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization and has successfully represented clients before the United States Tax Court and the Board of Tax Appeals.
As a speaker, Kerry has made presentations to the Houston Income and Franchise Tax Committee, the Northshore Estate Planning Council and various groups of certified public accountants and life insurance/financial planning professionals. He received the Corpus Juris Secundum Award and the Law Excellence Awards for Federal Civil Procedure, Louisiana Civil Procedure, Taxation of Pass-Thru Entities and Legal Accounting.
Kerry represents clients in a variety of commercial transactions, including reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate. His client representation includes companies throughout Louisiana, Texas and Florida. Kerry also practices in the area of elder law and advises on disability planning and Medicaid eligibility. He is skilled in the preparation of special needs trusts for disabled individuals. Kerry is also experienced in tax issues affecting the film and television industry, and has advised clients seeking to qualify for and acquire movie and infrastructure tax credits.
