Mason is an Associate in the Construction/Surety and Litigation sections of Coats Rose. He joined Coats Rose in 2008. He graduated with honors from The University of Texas School of Law, where he excelled in courses in Construction Law and Construction Litigation. Mason was also a Mock Trial semifinalist, Articles Editor for The Review of Litigation, recipient of a Texas Law Fellowship, and elected a Permanent Class Representative for the class of 2006. 
In addition to being very active in the legal community, Mason is also involved in various civic activities, including Race for the Cure, Haven for Hope homeless shelter, Witte Museum Society and the Steering Committee for the McNay Art Museum.
 
Practice Emphasis
Mason’s practice concentrates in construction-related legal matters such as construction litigation and arbitration. He has represented design professionals, owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in a variety of construction transactions and disputes.

  • Won fraud judgment and over half of a million dollars in net payment to client as first chair in trial for case related to university construction project
  • Drafted and negotiated $6 million prime contract for federal building construction project
  • Drafted and negotiated $2 million prime contract for exterior renovation of downtown sky rise
  • Won $100,000 contested summary judgment on behalf of subcontractor in payment dispute
