David is Of Counsel in the Litigation and Construction/Surety Sections of Coats Rose. He joined the firm in 2007 and has over 30 years experience as a trial lawyer in business disputes. David also served as assistant attorney general for the State of Texas in the Anti-Trust Division of Attorney General John Hill’s Administration from 1977 to 1978.
David’s experience encompasses a wide variety of complex business litigation, including the representation of the corporate insured, breach of contract, business break ups, unfair competition, business torts, breach of contract, fraud, unfair trade practices, insurance bad faith, director and officer liability, securities, antitrust, as well as construction and product defects.

- Represented international oil field service and equipment companies in an insurance coverage trial in Houston recover in excess of $20 million in settlements.
- Obtained jury verdict on behalf of Stan Albeck (former San Antonio Spurs coach) for fraud in his purchase of a restaurant.
- Represented the nation’s largest credit union for the replacement of their defective computer system.
- Obtained a judgment in Bankruptcy Court for one of San Antonio’s major developers defeating personal liability for $67 million.
- Obtained settlements in excess of $75 million for the replacement of defective plastic underground water service pipe and assisted general counsel as co-counsel for water utility districts in California and Texas.
- Seized and successfully held the presidential jet of Liberia until payment received for the purchase and repair of other aircraft from the government of Liberia.
- Prosecuted and defended dealer termination and fraud cases for and against various Fortune 500 companies.
- Prosecuted and defended securities fraud cases for and against national brokerage houses.
- Represented business and individual interests involving enforcement of non competition agreements, trade secrets, customer lists and buy sell agreements.
