Vanessa is of Counsel in the Construction/Surety and Litigation sections of Coats Rose. She is a graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law, where she was on the Dean’s List and an active competitor in Moot Court. Vanessa received her B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. During law school and prior to beginning her career in private practice, she clerked at the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.
Vanessa is active in both the local legal and construction communities. She is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association, San Antonio Young Lawyers Association, and in 2006 was inducted as a Fellow into the San Antonio Bar Foundation. Vanessa is also very active with the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) South Texas Chapter, serving on several committees, including Excellence in Construction, Gala, Social and Sportsman. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the San Antonio Bar Association’s Construction Law Section.
Vanessa has been a contributing writer for various local publications regarding legal issues in the construction industry, including the San Antonio Construction News. She received “Rising Star Honorable Mention” in Scene in SA magazine, as one of the city’s best young lawyers, and has been recognized for consecutive years as one of Scene in SA’s “Best Lawyers.” Texas Monthly magazine has also named her a “Rising Star,” one of the best young lawyers in Texas under the age of 40.
Vanessa has practiced construction law throughout her career, concentrating primarily on construction litigation.
