HOUSTON – March 6, 2018 – Coats Rose, P.C., a leading business transaction and litigation law firm, is proud to announce that Roger Scales, of counsel and head of the firm’s oil and gas practice, is now licensed to practice law in the state of New Mexico. The firm’s expansion to practice in New Mexico comes on the heels of the state’s significant increase in oil and gas operations over the last year.
“We have received numerous requests to assist clients with New Mexico oil and gas assets, so it’s great that we have the option to expand our services to this area,” said Scales. “The Permian Basin continues to be very active with oil and gas production in the U.S., and a significant portion of that play crosses the state line from Texas into New Mexico.”
Scales, a 26-year veteran of the oil and gas industry, has built an extensive oil and gas practice focusing on matters involving title examination, due diligence title reviews, and the negotiation and evaluation of all manners of oil and gas agreements. Scales has also assisted clients in matters involving wind energy, solar energy and groundwater leasing. He is also licensed in Texas, Ohio and North Dakota.
Scales continued, “New Mexico has considerable exploration activities and it’s second only to Texas in the number of active rigs. Over the past two years, New Mexico has demonstrated the highest percentage increase in active rigs, and it would not be surprising to see that trend continue.”
Coats Rose oil and gas practice represents local and national industry clients in a broad range of matters involving oil and gas law, providing clients with expertise in both transactional matters and litigation. The firm’s energy attorneys are licensed to practice in many of the most active regions of the nation, including Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Ohio and North Dakota.
