Taylor Hawes is an Of Counsel attorney in the Affordable Housing and Community Development practice group in the Dallas office. He assists his affordable housing developer and housing authority clients with tax credit and bond financing transactions before local, state, and federal governmental agencies.
Taylor joins Coats Rose from HUD where he was an Attorney-Advisor for over ten years. His work primarily focused on FHA loan closings for HUD’s Multifamily, Residential Care Facility, and Hospital Facility clients. He also was lead counsel and subject matter expert to HUD’s Multifamily Property Disposition Division, providing guidance to HUD’s multifamily foreclosure and asset sales throughout the nation. He closed numerous RAD transactions and provided guidance on numerous HUD’s Community Planning and Development matters. While at HUD, Taylor was known for his writing and teaching abilities, serving on multiple document redrafting and HUD policy committees and often presenting to both internal and external partners on HUD’s legal requirements.
In addition to his HUD duties, Taylor also was an official grader of bar exams for New York State. Prior to HUD, he interned with the New York State Attorney General’s Office and U.S. District Court Judge Dee Benson.
